Offering a friendly environment where members can meet, relax and support one another.
When you're living with cancer, the good days really matter
The knowledge that you are suffering from cancer can be very frightening, resulting in a variety of conflicting emotions, such as anger, resentment and panic.
The Ludlow Cancer Support Group has been set up to provide a sociable and welcoming environment where, through friendship and shared experience, members can find additional strength to cope with their situation.
We will try to help people find professional support in areas covering medical, practical and grant-related needs. We will work closely with providers such as NHS Shropshire, Macmillan Cancer Support, Severn Hospice, and Cancer Research (UK) to help our members meet their information needs.
The Group plans to meet fortnightly in the Parish Centre in St Peter’s Church in Henley Road, Ludlow. Our hope is that those attending will look forward to meeting people in a similar situation, enjoy one another’s company, and gain strength from each other. Meetings start at 11.00 am and finish at 12.45. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be offered free of charge on arrival, and during the morning there will be an opportunity to order a simple lunch, costing £3. This will be served at the close of each meeting, at 12.45.
Membership of the Ludlow Cancer Support Group is free to people who have been diagnosed with cancer, regardless of how long ago the diagnosis was made. Carers, relatives and friends of people with cancer are also very welcome.

Family members, carers and friends are also very welcome
Objectives The aim of LCSG is to provide a social and relaxed environment where, through friendship and shared experience, people can find additional strength to cope with the emotion, stress and isolation which often come when cancer is diagnosed. The LCSG will also try to help people find professional support in areas ranging from medical to practical to financial needs. The Group will work closely with providers such as NHS Shropshire, Macmillan Cancer Support, Severn Hospice, and Cancer Research (UK) to help members meet their information needs.
Committee A committee of at least three members will be responsible for all the day to day business of LCSG. Committee members will be appointed by the committee from members willing to serve. The individual roles which members of the committee undertake will be notified to all members. There is no limit to the numbers of members who may serve on the committee. The committee will meet at least quarterly. The committee will report to the membership at least once a year. The report will be in writing and will include a financial summary. No decisions may be taken unless there is a quorum of at least four committee members present.
Membership Membership is by simple request, which may be verbal, to a member of the committee. Member details will be entered on the membership list. The membership list will be made available exclusively to members to encourage supportive contacts and friendships and will not otherwise be distributed.

Outings and other events may attract a charge to attend which will reflect the cash costs of the event. Occasional meetings may be held which are open to non-members and the committee may at its discretion make a charge to non-members for attending such events.
Fund Raising LCSG will undertake occasional fund-raising events and welcomes donations from the community, local and national organisations and those willing to help with the cost of offering relevant services,
